Following on from comments made in the tutorial regarding the ways in which our palette of materials represented a higher set of rules and hierarchical notions, we decided to continue to push the use of what was possible from the 'low' quality materials which we had been working with. This meant using a standard bought vacuum formed tub which was the correct dimensions to insert into the base as a vessel and to treat the low quality object to become 'worthy' for use during a spiritual ritual.
The original box was cut into two with a hand saw the process of which left several cracks and rough edges which made it unsuitable for its use as a vessel for ablutions to be conducted in. To fix this, the edges were sanded and the decision was made for the plastic to be repaired with wax which would not mix with the water which would be poured into it, sealing the cracks and making it watertight whilst also allowing the material to reflect the ritualistic use of the box.
The artefacts threshold was also thought of to be expanded to contain another element of the ablutions ritual by extending a further step beyond the ablutions area to allow for an extension of the threshold.
