Refining the Narrative

While I'm waiting on materials to construct more of the site model, I decided to try to formulate the PDF for Tuesday's final review which refines the project so far in terms of narrative and progress. The PDF required a selection of around 10 - 12 pages which contains a concise version of the project so far, without diluting the narrative with too many 'sketchbook' pages just the key parts of each developing theme.

I began by assembling my entire presented weeks worksheets to date, 71 pages of work which had been shown as part of each weekly tutorial. I decided to go through this page by page, trying to identify the main pieces of work/information which had shaped the project as it currently stands, and which could develop where it will go. This was relatively simple to compose, with the first 5 pages concreted in place:

  1. The Object

  2. The Research Map

  3. Heritage of Tyneside

  4. The Centre of Industry

  5. The Occupied Past, Occupying the present

These pages summaries the first 7 weeks of the project into very concentrated pieces of information. From here, the remaining 3 weeks of work would be able to expand over the remaining 5 - 7 sheets allowing for the more recent, and debatably more relevant, directional pieces of work to be expanded upon and given more onus to provide evidence that my proposal is suitable for the site and context in which it will reside.
